Philadelphia Phillies at San Francisco Giants
SAN FRANCISCO (Interstat) — The Philadelphia Phillies look to build on a winning start to their road trip when they continue a series against the struggling San Francisco Giants on Tuesday at Oracle Park.
The Phillies (5-4) took the series opener 1-0 on Monday behind strong pitching. They’ll turn to left-hander Cristopher Sánchez (1-0) in the second game. He will be opposed by Giants lefty Robbie Ray (1-1).
Philadelphia arrives having won five of its last seven, including two of three in Colorado over the weekend. A player to watch is outfielder Adolis García, who is 9 for 34 (.265) with two home runs and four RBIs over his last nine games. He homered in Sunday’s 4-1 loss to the Rockies.
San Francisco (3-7) has lost seven of its last eight games, including three of four to the New York Mets to open its homestand. Ace Logan Webb has been a bright spot, coming off a quality start in a 5-2 loss to the Mets on Sunday where he allowed one earned run over seven innings.
Ray will face a Phillies lineup that has been inconsistent early. Sánchez will try to navigate a Giants offense that has been held to three runs or fewer in six of its 10 games.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Phillies are projected to win 4-3. Philadelphia is a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5. The over/under is set at 7 runs.
Following Wednesday’s series finale, the Phillies return home for a seven-game homestand against Arizona and Chicago. The Giants embark on a 10-game East Coast road trip starting Friday in Baltimore.
