Tigers, Twins Set for Chilly Showdown at Target Field

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (Interstat) — The Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins will meet in frigid conditions Tuesday night at Target Field, with first pitch forecast for 34 degrees under clear skies.

The Tigers (4-5) look to even their record after a 5-3 loss to the Twins in the series opener Monday. The Twins (3-6) aim to build momentum after snapping a three-game skid.

Detroit will send left-hander Tarik Skubal (1-1, 3.86 ERA) to the mound. Skubal took the loss in his last start, allowing five runs (four earned) over 4 2/3 innings against Arizona on April 1.

Minnesota counters with right-hander Taj Bradley (1-0, 1.29 ERA). Bradley earned a win in his season debut, holding Tampa Bay to one run over seven innings on March 30.

A player to watch for Detroit is right-hander Keider Montero, who provided 4 1/3 innings of solid relief Sunday, allowing two runs on three hits. For Minnesota, right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson has been a bright spot despite an 0-2 record, posting a 2.45 ERA over 11 innings in two starts, including 6 2/3 strong innings against the Rays on April 5.

Both bullpens could be pivotal. Detroit’s Connor Seabold has thrown two scoreless innings in his last appearance, while Minnesota’s Cole Sands and Kody Funderburk combined for 2 1/3 scoreless frames Sunday.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 4-2 Tigers victory. Detroit has been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5. The over/under is set at 6.5 runs.

Following Tuesday’s contest, the teams will conclude their three-game series Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
