Athletics at New York Yankees
Yankees Look to Continue Hot Start Against Struggling A’s
NEW YORK (Interstat) — The New York Yankees, owners of the American League’s best record, will host the struggling Athletics on Tuesday night in the opener of a three-game series at Yankee Stadium.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 51 degrees.
The Yankees (7-2) enter having won seven of their first nine, including series victories over San Francisco, Seattle and Miami. Their only series loss came in the finale against the Marlins, a 7-6 defeat on Sunday. Left-hander Max Fried (2-0, 1.35 ERA), a key offseason acquisition, gets the start. Fried has been dominant, allowing three earned runs over 20 innings in his first three starts. He took a no-decision Sunday after yielding three runs in 6 2/3 innings.
Oakland (3-6) arrives after a wild, extra-inning 12-10 win over Houston on Sunday but has lost six of nine to start the year. The Athletics will send right-hander Aaron Civale (1-0) to the mound. The Yankees counter with right-hander Cam Schlittler (2-0).
A player to watch for is designated hitter Brent Rooker, who powered Sunday’s victory by going 2 for 4 with two home runs and six RBIs. That breakout followed a 1-for-23 skid over his previous seven games.
For New York, first baseman Ben Rice is coming off a Sunday performance where he hit a pinch-hit, three-run homer.
The Yankees took two of three from the Athletics in their last meeting in August 2025. According to Interstat’s game simulator, New York is projected to win 5-3. The Yankees are installed as a -1.5 run favorite, with an over/under of 8 runs.
Following this series, the Athletics continue a road trip with three games against the New York Mets. The Yankees will hit the road for a weekend series at Tampa Bay.
