Dodgers Look to Continue Hot Start Against Blue Jays in Toronto

TORONTO (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Dodgers, off to a major league-best 7-2 start, will send right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto to the mound against the Toronto Blue Jays’ Kevin Gausman in the second of a three-game series Tuesday night at Rogers Centre.

The Dodgers dominated the series opener Monday, winning 9-1. They have won seven of their last eight games, including a three-game sweep at Washington over the weekend where they scored 31 runs.

Yamamoto (1-1, 3.27 ERA) will make his third start. He earned his first win last Wednesday, allowing one run over six innings against Cleveland. He will face a Blue Jays lineup that was shut out 3-0 in Chicago on Sunday and is batting just .225 as a team.

Gausman (0-0, 4.50 ERA) makes his second start for Toronto (4-5). The veteran right-hander took a no-decision in his season debut last Tuesday, giving up three runs in six innings against Colorado.

All eyes will be on Dodgers two-way star Shohei Ohtani, who is riding a torrid stretch at the plate. The designated hitter is 7 for 18 (.389) with two home runs and six RBIs over his last four games, including a 2-for-4 performance with a homer and two RBIs in Sunday’s 8-6 win at Washington.

For the Blue Jays, reliever Spencer Miles is a player to watch. The right-hander has been effective in a bullpen that has struggled, posting a 3.38 ERA in three appearances. He threw two scoreless innings in Sunday’s loss.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Dodgers are projected to win 8-3. Los Angeles is a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5, and the over/under is set at 7.5 runs.

Following Wednesday’s series finale, the Dodgers return home to face Texas, while the Blue Jays host Minnesota.
