Arizona Diamondbacks at New York Mets
Preview: Diamondbacks at Mets, Tuesday, April 7, 2026
NEW YORK (Interstat) — Two teams riding winning streaks will meet Tuesday evening when the Arizona Diamondbacks visit the New York Mets at Citi Field.
The Mets (6-4), who took three of four in San Francisco over the weekend, will send right-hander Kodai Senga to the mound. Senga (1-0) is coming off a strong outing, allowing two runs over 5 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts in a win over the Giants on April 5. In his prior start, he struck out nine over six innings but took a loss against St. Louis.
He will be opposed by Arizona right-hander Zac Gallen (1-1). The Diamondbacks (5-5) have won two straight, including a 6-5, 10-inning victory over Atlanta on Sunday.
A key figure in that comeback win was reliever Taylor Clarke, who pitched 1 1/3 scoreless innings to earn the victory. Clarke has been a reliable bullpen arm for Arizona, allowing no earned runs in four of his five appearances this season, though he was tagged for four runs in one outing against the Dodgers on March 26.
The Mets’ bullpen also appears solidified, with Devin Williams and Huascar Brazobán combining for 2 1/3 scoreless innings to close out Sunday’s win.
Offensively, the Diamondbacks will look to Ketel Marte and Corbin Carroll, who each drove in runs in Sunday’s victory. The Mets’ lineup will aim to provide Senga early support against Gallen.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Mets are projected to win a close one, 6-5. Bookmakers list New York as a 1.5-run favorite, with an over/under of 7 runs.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 53 degrees.
The game is the first of a three-game series. The teams will meet again Wednesday and Thursday before both embark on road trips. Arizona heads to Philadelphia and Baltimore, while the Mets will host before a challenging West Coast swing to face the Los Angeles Dodgers.
