Atlanta Braves at Los Angeles Angels
Braves, Angels Open Series in Anaheim
ANAHEIM, Calif. (Interstat) — The Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Angels, both looking to build early momentum, open a three-game series at Angel Stadium on Monday.
The Braves (6-4) arrive after a 10-inning, 6-5 loss at Arizona on Sunday, splitting a four-game set with the Diamondbacks. The Angels (5-5) are coming off an 11-inning, 8-7 victory over Seattle, taking three of four from the Mariners.
A player to watch for Atlanta is catcher Drake Baldwin, who is riding a hot streak. In Sunday’s loss, he went 3 for 5 with a home run and four RBIs. Over his last 10 games, Baldwin has four homers and 12 RBIs.
For the Angels, reliever Brent Suter has been a key bullpen arm. He earned the win Sunday with 2 1/3 innings of relief, allowing one run on one hit while striking out three. The left-hander has a 3.86 ERA over five appearances this season.
The Braves’ offense showed explosive potential in a 17-2 rout of Arizona last Thursday but was held to one or two runs in three of their other past five games. The Angels have won four of their last six, with their bullpen logging significant innings.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Braves are projected to win Monday’s contest 6-2.
Following this series, the Braves return home Friday to face Cleveland. The Angels hit the road for a four-city trip starting Friday in Cincinnati.
