Baltimore Orioles at Chicago White Sox
White Sox Host Orioles to Open Series
CHICAGO (Interstat) — The Chicago White Sox will look to build on a series win when they host the struggling Baltimore Orioles to open a three-game set on Monday at Guaranteed Rate Field.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with temperatures around 50 degrees.
The White Sox (4-5) took two of three from the Toronto Blue Jays, capped by a 3-0 shutout Sunday behind a strong start from Davis Martin. The right-hander, a player to watch, tossed six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and striking out six. In his previous start, he earned a win against Miami.
He will be opposed by Baltimore’s Erick Fedde (0-1). The Orioles (3-6) arrive having been swept in a three-game series at Pittsburgh, including an 8-2 loss Sunday. Fedde will try to steady a club that has lost five of its last six.
A player to watch for Baltimore is Cade Povich, who pitched effectively in Sunday’s loss, allowing two earned runs over 5 2/3 innings.
Despite Baltimore’s recent skid, Interstat’s ELO system projects the Orioles with a 55.9% probability to win Monday. However, the same outlet’s game simulator predicts a 4-2 victory for the White Sox.
The teams will meet again Tuesday and Wednesday to complete the series before Baltimore returns home and Chicago hits the road.
