Seattle Mariners at Texas Rangers
ARLINGTON, Texas (Interstat) — The Seattle Mariners will turn to veteran ace Jacob deGrom on Monday night as they open a three-game series against the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field, looking to steady themselves after a difficult road trip.
DeGrom (0-0) will make his first start of the 2026 season for the Mariners (4-6), who arrive after losing three of four to the Los Angeles Angels, including an 11-inning, 8-7 defeat on Sunday. The two-time Cy Young Award winner will be tasked with slowing a Texas lineup that has shown flashes of power early.
The Rangers (4-5) counter with right-hander Jack Leiter, who has been sharp in two outings despite a 1-1 record. In his last start, a 2-1 loss to Cincinnati on Sunday, Leiter struck out nine over five innings, allowing just one earned run on four hits. For the season, he has 17 strikeouts in 11 innings.
A key matchup will feature Seattle’s Cole Young, who is coming off a productive series in Anaheim. The second baseman went 1 for 4 with a three-run homer in Sunday’s loss and has driven in seven runs over his last ten games. He will be a central figure in a Mariners lineup seeking more consistent offense after being shut out twice last week.
Texas will look to rebound after dropping two of three at home to the Reds, where scoring was sporadic. The Rangers managed only one run in each of their last two games.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, this contest projects as a tight, low-scoring affair with a predicted final of 4-3 in favor of Seattle. Betting markets, however, list Texas as a -1.5 run favorite, with an over/under set at 7.5 runs.
The series continues Tuesday and Wednesday in Arlington before both clubs embark on different paths. Seattle returns home for a long homestand starting Friday against Houston, while Texas hits the road for a four-game set against the Los Angeles Dodgers beginning Friday.
