Milwaukee Brewers at Boston Red Sox

BOSTON (Interstat) — The surging Milwaukee Brewers and struggling Boston Red Sox are set for a three-game series opener at Fenway Park on Monday, with weather threatening to dampen the proceedings.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. EDT under a forecast of 55-degree temperatures and rain.

The Brewers (7-2) arrive riding high, having won seven of their last eight games. They are coming off an 8-5 victory at Kansas City on Sunday. Boston (2-7) seeks to halt a five-game skid after falling 8-6 to San Diego at home.

The pitching matchup features a contrast in early-season fortunes. Milwaukee’s Brandon Woodruff (1-0) takes the mound against Boston’s Brayan Bello (0-1).

A player to watch for Milwaukee is Kyle Harrison, who delivered a strong start in Sunday’s win, allowing two earned runs over 5 1/3 innings with six strikeouts. For Boston, outfielder Masataka Yoshida looks to build on a 3-for-4, three-RBI performance Sunday, a bright spot in the team’s recent woes.

The Brewers’ offense has been potent, scoring eight or more runs in four of their nine games. Christian Yelich, who had two hits and an RBI Sunday, anchors the lineup. Boston’s pitching staff, outside of a 5-2 win over San Diego on Friday, has allowed at least six runs in six of its seven losses.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Brewers are projected to win 5-2. Milwaukee has been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5. The over/under is set at 8 runs.

Following this series, the Brewers return home to face Washington on Friday. The Red Sox embark on a six-game road trip to St. Louis and Minnesota starting Friday.
