MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Interstat) — The Cincinnati Reds, riding a three-game winning streak, open a four-game series against the Miami Marlins at loanDepot Park on Monday.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 78 degrees.
The Reds (6-3) arrive after a successful road series in Texas, capped by a 2-1 victory Sunday behind a stellar start from Chase Burns. The right-hander, a key player to watch, allowed one run over six innings with nine strikeouts. Over his last two starts, Burns has pitched 11 innings, allowing one earned run and striking out 16.
Cincinnati will send left-hander Brandon Williamson (0-1) to the mound. The Marlins (5-3) counter with right-hander Janson Junk (0-0), making his first start of the season. Miami dropped two of three in New York against the Yankees, including a 9-7 loss Saturday.
A player to watch for the Marlins is right-hander Max Meyer, who took the loss Saturday despite striking out six over 4 2/3 innings.
Despite Miami being installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5, Interstat’s game simulator projects a high-scoring affair, predicting a 7-6 victory for the Reds. The over/under is set at 8 runs.
The series continues through Thursday before both clubs head home for weekend sets. Cincinnati will host the Los Angeles Angels, while Miami travels to face the Detroit Tigers.
