Nationals Rally in Eighth to Topple Cardinals

WASHINGTON (Interstat) — The Washington Nationals erupted for six runs in the eighth inning to overcome a late deficit and beat the St. Louis Cardinals 9-6 on Monday night at Nationals Park.

James Wood’s three-run homer tied the game before Brady House followed with a two-run shot, both coming off reliever Ken Waldichuk. The outburst erased a strong night from St. Louis’ Ramón Urías, who homered and doubled, driving in three runs.

Zack Littell started for Washington, allowing one run over five innings. Cionel Pérez earned the win in relief. Matt Svanson took the loss for the Cardinals.

The announced attendance was 12,319. The game lasted 2 hours, 56 minutes.
