Mets Use Late Rally to Top Giants, Secure Series Sweep

SAN FRANCISCO (Interstat) — The New York Mets broke a tie with a four-run eighth inning to defeat the San Francisco Giants 5-2 on Sunday evening at Oracle Park, completing a three-game series sweep.

A pitchers’ duel between the Giants’ Logan Webb and the Mets’ Kodai Senga, the game’s top star, left the Mets leading 1-0 into the sixth. San Francisco tied it on an RBI double from Matt Chapman and a run-scoring single by Rafael Devers.

The Mets responded in the eighth, keyed by a two-run double from pinch-hitter Luis Torrens. Mark Vientos and Marcus Semien added RBI hits to secure the win before an announced crowd of 37,079.

Huascar Brazobán earned the win in relief. Keaton Winn took the loss. Devin Williams notched his second save. The Mets improved to 6-4, while the Giants fell to 3-7.
