Tampa Bay Rays at Minnesota Twins
Preview: Rays at Twins, Sunday, April 5, 2026
BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (Interstat) — The Tampa Bay Rays and Minnesota Twins will look to gain an edge in a soggy series finale Sunday at Target Field, with cold and rainy conditions forecast for first pitch.
The teams have split the first two games of the series, with the Twins winning 10-4 on Friday before the Rays responded with a 6-1 victory Saturday.
Tampa Bay (2-5) will send right-hander Nick Martinez (0-0) to the mound. Minnesota (3-4) is scheduled to start right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson (0-1). Both pitchers are seeking their first win of the young season.
A player to watch for the Rays is pitcher Joe Boyle, who took the loss Friday despite a strong outing. Over 5 1/3 innings, he allowed two earned runs on four hits while striking out nine. For the Twins, infielder Tristan Gray looks to stay hot after driving in five runs, including a home run, in Friday’s victory.
The Rays have struggled early, losing five of their first seven. The Twins have been inconsistent, alternating wins and losses over their past five games.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Twins 3, Rays 1. However, Tampa Bay has been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5. The over/under is set at 8 runs.
Following the game, the Rays return home to open a series against the Chicago Cubs on Monday. The Twins will remain at home to begin a four-game set with the Detroit Tigers.
