Chicago Cubs at Cleveland Guardians
CLEVELAND (Interstat) — The Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Guardians will conclude a three-game series Sunday at Progressive Field, with first pitch scheduled for the afternoon. The game will be played in the evening.
Forecasts call for rain and a game-time temperature of 80 degrees.
The Cubs (3-4) will look to salvage a series split after dropping the first two contests, including a 4-1 decision on Friday. Cleveland (5-3) has won four of its last five.
Chicago’s scheduled starter is right-hander Edward Cabrera (1-0). Cleveland will counter with left-hander Joey Cantillo.
A player to watch for the Cubs is reliever Colin Rea, who took the loss Friday after allowing one earned run over 3 1/3 innings. Cantillo earned the win in that same game, striking out six over 5 1/3 strong innings.
According to Interstat, the Guardians are projected as narrow favorites with a 50.9% win probability. Their game simulator predicts a 4-3 Cleveland victory. The over/under is set at 7.5 runs, with the Cubs installed as a -1.5 run favorite on the spread.
Following the series, the Cubs travel to Tampa Bay for a three-game set beginning Monday. The Guardians will host the Kansas City Royals for three games starting Monday.
