New York Mets at San Francisco Giants
SAN FRANCISCO (Interstat) — The New York Mets and San Francisco Giants, both seeking to break early-season .500 stalemates, continue their four-game series at Oracle Park on Saturday.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. PDT. Both clubs enter with identical 3-4 records.
The Mets will send right-hander Clay Holmes (1-0) to the mound against Giants right-hander Landen Roupp (1-0). Holmes looks to build on a strong debut, while Roupp aims to replicate his first successful outing.
New York seeks to even the series after dropping the first two contests. The Giants won 7-2 on Thursday behind a strong start from Robbie Ray, who is a player to watch for San Francisco after striking out seven Mets over 5 1/3 innings in that victory.
A player to watch for the Mets is left-hander Sean Manaea, though he pitched in relief Thursday, allowing one earned run in 3 2/3 innings against the Giants. Mark Vientos and Bo Bichette provided New York’s offense in that loss with solo home runs.
The Giants’ offense was powered by designated hitter Rafael Devers, who homered, and a solid bullpen effort from Blade Tidwell in Thursday’s win.
Projections present a split view. Interstat’s game simulator predicts a 4-3 Mets victory, while its ELO system gives the Giants a slight 51.3% probability to win. Betting markets list the Mets as a -1.5 run favorite with an over/under of 7.5 runs.
Following Saturday’s game, the series concludes Sunday before both teams embark on new series. The Mets host Arizona next, while the Giants welcome Philadelphia to start a homestand Monday.
