Cincinnati Reds at Texas Rangers

Rain Threatens Rangers-Reds Showdown in Arlington

ARLINGTON, Texas (Interstat) — A wet forecast looms over a matchup of early-season equals as the Texas Rangers host the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday at Globe Life Park.

Both clubs enter with 4-3 records and will look to break the deadlock in this three-game series after the Reds claimed a 5-3 victory in Friday’s opener.

The weather, however, could be a deciding factor. Game time temperatures are expected to be near 79 degrees Fahrenheit, but rain is in the forecast.

Cincinnati will hand the ball to right-hander Rhett Lowder (0-0), making his first start of the 2026 campaign. He will be opposed by Texas left-hander MacKenzie Gore (0-1, 4.50 ERA). Gore took the loss Friday despite a quality start, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out nine over six innings.

A player to watch for the Reds is right-hander Brady Singer, who earned the win in relief Friday with five innings of two-run ball. Over his last two appearances, Singer has logged nine innings with 10 strikeouts.

For the Rangers, Gore will look to rebound quickly and continue his strong strikeout tendencies. He has 16 strikeouts in 11.1 innings pitched this season.

Offensively, Cincinnati’s Spencer Steer is coming off a two-hit game Friday that included a home run and two RBIs. Texas’ Wyatt Langford also had two hits and an RBI in the series opener.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Rangers are projected to win 5-3. The system’s ELO ratings give Texas a 55% probability of victory.

Following Saturday’s contest, the series concludes Sunday before both teams embark on road trips. The Reds head to Miami for a four-game set, while the Rangers welcome Seattle for three games before traveling to Los Angeles to face the Dodgers.
