Miami Marlins at New York Yankees

Preview: Marlins Look to Rebound Against Yankees After Opening Loss

NEW YORK (Interstat) — The Miami Marlins will look to even their series with the New York Yankees on Saturday after dropping the opener at Yankee Stadium.

First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a temperature around 63 degrees.

The Marlins (5-2), despite Friday’s 8-2 loss, still own one of the better records in the early American League season. They will turn to right-hander Max Meyer (0-0) to try and cool off a Yankees lineup that produced 15 hits in the series opener. Meyer will be making his first start of 2026.

He will be opposed by Yankees right-hander Will Warren (0-0), who earned the win Friday with a strong six-inning outing, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out six. It is unclear if Warren is being listed as a probable pitcher for a potential relief appearance or if the information provided is in error, as he pitched the previous day.

A player to watch for Miami is second baseman Xavier Edwards, who homered in Friday’s loss and is batting .500 (11 for 22) over his last seven games. For New York, all eyes will again be on Aaron Judge, who went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs on Friday, and Ben Rice, who also homered and drove in three.

The Yankees (6-1) have the best record in baseball, having won six of their first seven, including taking two of three in Seattle before returning home.

Despite New York’s hot start and home-field advantage, Interstat’s game simulator projects a high-scoring affair with Miami coming out on top, 8-5. Betting markets, however, list the Yankees as a 1.5-run favorite with an over/under of 7.5 total runs.

Following Saturday’s contest, the three-game series concludes Sunday before Miami heads home to face Cincinnati and the Yankees host Oakland.
