Texas Rangers at Baltimore Orioles

BALTIMORE (Interstat) — The Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles, both 2-1, will open a three-game series Monday night at Oriole Park at Camden Yards in a matchup of early American League contenders.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. EDT under clear skies with a game-time temperature near 55 degrees.

The Rangers arrive after taking three of four from the Philadelphia Phillies, including an 8-3 win Sunday behind a strong start from left-hander MacKenzie Gore. Gore, a player to watch for Texas, allowed two earned runs on two hits with seven strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings. Andrew McCutchen and Brandon Nimmo each homered in the victory.

Texas will send right-hander Jack Leiter to the mound. Leiter has a season record of wins and losses.

Baltimore salvaged a series split with Minnesota on Sunday with an 8-6 win. Outfielder Tyler O’Neill, a key player for the Orioles, launched a three-run homer in the victory. He has four RBIs in the young season.

The Orioles will counter with right-hander Chris Bassitt. Bassitt has a season record of wins and losses.

Despite Baltimore being installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5, Interstat’s game simulator projects a narrow 3-2 Rangers victory. The over/under is set at 9 runs.

The series continues Tuesday and Wednesday in Baltimore before both clubs embark on their next homestands.
