MARLINS AIM FOR SWEEP OF ROCKIES IN SERIES FINALE

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Interstat) — The Miami Marlins will look to complete a season-opening sweep when they host the Colorado Rockies in the finale of a three-game series Sunday evening at loanDepot Park.

The Marlins (2-0) have taken the first two games by scores of 2-1 and 4-3. Another win would send the Rockies (0-2) to a winless opening road trip.

Miami will send right-hander Max Meyer to the mound. Meyer owns a season record of - wins and - losses. He will be opposed by Colorado left-hander Jose Quintana (-).

A player to watch for the Rockies is right-hander Michael Lorenzen, who took the loss in relief Saturday. He allowed three earned runs over 4 1/3 innings after entering for an injured starter.

The Marlins’ player to watch is right-hander Eury Pérez, who earned the win Saturday with a strong start, going seven innings and striking out eight while allowing three runs.

Colorado’s offense has struggled early, scoring just four total runs in the series. Shortstop Ezequiel Tovar provided a bright spot Saturday, hitting a two-run home run.

Miami’s Liam Hicks delivered the key blow in Saturday’s win, a three-run homer that proved decisive.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Marlins are projected to win 7-0. Miami is a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5. The over/under is set at 7.5.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature of 83 degrees Fahrenheit.
