Arizona Diamondbacks at San Diego Padres
SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — The Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres will close their regular seasons and a three-game series Sunday afternoon at PETCO Park, with both clubs looking to finish on a high note.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 p.m. under cloudy skies with a temperature around 76 degrees.
The Diamondbacks (80-80) have alternated wins and losses over their last six games and are looking to even the series after a 7-4 loss on Friday and a 0-0 result on Saturday. Arizona will send right-hander Brandon Pfaadt (13-8) to the mound for the finale. The team has struggled for consistency in September, going 8-7 in its last 15 contests.
The Padres (88-72), already assured a winning record, have won seven of their last 10 games. They have dominated the season series against Arizona, winning eight of the 13 matchups, including the last two. Fernando Tatis Jr. powered Friday’s win with a grand slam.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, a high-scoring affair is projected, with the Padres edging the Diamondbacks 7-6.
