Minnesota Twins at Philadelphia Phillies
PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The Philadelphia Phillies will look to secure a series victory and maintain their momentum heading into the postseason when they host the Minnesota Twins in the finale of a three-game set Sunday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park.
First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature of 79 degrees.
The series is tied after the teams split the first two games. The Phillies (95-65) won 3-1 on Friday behind eight dominant innings from Aaron Nola, but the Twins (69-91) evened it with a 5-0 shutout on Saturday.
Philadelphia will send left-hander Cristopher Sánchez (13-5, ERA N/A) to the mound. Sánchez has been a key part of the Phillies’ rotation during their playoff-bound campaign. He will be opposed by Minnesota right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson (7-4, ERA N/A).
The Twins have struggled offensively of late, scoring three or fewer runs in seven of their last 10 games. The Phillies, meanwhile, have won eight of their last 12 as they tune up for October.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Phillies are projected to win 6-3. Philadelphia has been installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5. The over/under for the game is 8.
Following the game, the Phillies will begin preparations for the National League Division Series, while the Twins will conclude a disappointing season.
