Minnesota Twins at Philadelphia Phillies

PHILADELPHIA (Interstat) — The Philadelphia Phillies will look to build on their playoff momentum and clinch a series victory when they host the Minnesota Twins on Saturday at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies (94-65), already assured a postseason berth, took the series opener 3-1 on Friday night. They will send left-hander Ranger Suárez (12-7) to the mound for the 7:05 p.m. EDT start. Suárez has been a staple of the Phillies’ rotation during their successful campaign.

He will be opposed by Minnesota’s Mick Abel (2-4). The Twins (69-90), long eliminated from contention, are playing for pride in the season’s final days.

The matchup presents a stark contrast in seasons. Philadelphia enters having won seven of its last 10 games, including a 1-0 victory over Miami on Thursday where Walker Buehler, Taijuan Walker and David Robertson combined on a shutout.

Minnesota snapped a two-game skid with a 4-0 win in Texas on Thursday, fueled by Byron Buxton’s two home runs and four RBIs and a strong start from Bailey Ober. Despite that win, the Twins have struggled for consistency down the stretch.

Saturday’s weather forecast calls for cloudy skies and a game-time temperature of 76 degrees.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Phillies are projected to edge the Twins 5-4.

The three-game series concludes Sunday.
