Arizona Diamondbacks at San Diego Padres
SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — The Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres open their final series of the season on Friday at PETCO Park, with the Padres looking to solidify their winning record while the Diamondbacks aim to finish at .500.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. PDT.
San Diego (87-72) enters the three-game set having won six of its last 10 games, though it is coming off a 3-1 loss to Milwaukee on Wednesday. The Padres took two of three from the Diamondbacks in their most recent meeting in August.
Arizona (80-79) was shut out 8-0 by the Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday, halting momentum from a stretch where it won five of its previous seven games. Despite the loss, relievers Taylor Rashi and Austin Pope provided scoreless outings.
The season series between the National League West rivals is tightly contested, with each team having won five of the 10 games played so far. Their matchups have been characterized by offensive surges, including a 10-5 Padres victory and an 8-2 Diamondbacks win in July.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Friday’s contest projects to be another high-scoring affair, with a predicted final of Arizona 7, San Diego 6.
The series continues through the weekend, concluding the 2025 regular season for both clubs on Sunday.
