New York Mets at Miami Marlins

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (Interstat) — The New York Mets and Miami Marlins, two teams heading in opposite directions to end the season, open a three-game series Friday at loanDepot park with rain in the forecast.

The Mets (81-77) have lost four of their last five, including a 10-3 defeat to the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday, but remain four games above .500. The Marlins (77-81) have won seven of their last 10, taking series from Texas and Colorado before splitting a four-game set in Philadelphia.

New York will send right-hander Sandy Alcantara (10-12) to the mound against a Marlins team that has won the season series 6-4. The teams split a four-game set in New York in late August, with the Marlins taking three of the first four before the Mets erupted for a 19-9 win.

In their last outing, the Mets saw home runs from Francisco Alvarez and Juan Soto in a losing effort. The Marlins are coming off an 11-1 loss to the Phillies on Wednesday.

A simulated projection by Interstat forecasts a 7-5 victory for Miami. Game time weather is expected to be 81 degrees with rain.

The series continues through Sunday, marking the final regular-season games for both clubs.
