Milwaukee Brewers at San Diego Padres
SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — The Milwaukee Brewers will look to rebound from a pair of tough losses and clinch a series split when they face the San Diego Padres on Wednesday afternoon at PETCO Park.
The Brewers (95-62) have dropped the first two games of this four-game set, including a 5-4, 11-inning defeat on Monday. They will turn to right-hander Quinn Priester (13-2), who has been a standout in their rotation this season. The Padres (86-71), winners of three of their last four, will counter with a starter to be announced.
Milwaukee’s offense will aim to break out after being shut out in Tuesday’s contest and stranding key opportunities in Monday’s extra-inning loss. The recent head-to-head matchups have been tightly contested, with four of the last five games between the clubs decided by two runs or fewer.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a high-scoring affair, predicting a 7-6 Brewers victory. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. PDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature of 83 degrees.
Following Wednesday’s finale, both teams open their final regular-season series at home on Friday. The Brewers will host the Cincinnati Reds, while the Padres welcome the Arizona Diamondbacks.
