Washington Nationals at Atlanta Braves

ATLANTA (Interstat) — The Atlanta Braves will look to extend their recent dominance over the Washington Nationals when the National League East rivals conclude their three-game series Wednesday afternoon at Truist Park.

The Braves (74-83) have taken the first two games of the set, including an 11-5 victory on Monday, and have won seven of the last eight meetings between the clubs. Atlanta has outscored Washington 50-22 over that stretch.

Scheduled starters are right-hander Bryce Elder (8-10) for Atlanta and left-hander Andrew Alvarez (1-1) for Washington. Elder will look to continue his strong recent form against the Nationals, while Alvarez makes a spot start for a Washington team playing out the string.

The Nationals (64-93) have dropped six of their last eight games. Shortstop Nasim Nuñez, who homered in Monday’s loss, and first baseman Andrés Chaparro have been recent bright spots for a struggling offense.

Atlanta’s Michael Harris II drove in three runs in the series opener, part of an offense that has averaged 7.25 runs in its last four wins.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:20 p.m. EDT under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature around 83 degrees. According to Interstat, the Braves are projected to win 7-3 and are favored by 1.5 runs. The over/under is set at 9.

Both teams have an off-day Thursday before hosting their final series of the season this weekend. Atlanta welcomes the Pittsburgh Pirates, while Washington hosts the Chicago White Sox.
