San Francisco Giants at Los Angeles Dodgers
LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — Pinch-hitter Patrick Bailey had a tying RBI double during San Francisco’s three-run rally in the eighth inning, and the Giants avoided a four-game series sweep with a 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday evening.
The Giants, held to one hit through seven innings by Dodgers starter Emmet Sheehan, battered reliever Blake Treinen to erase a 1-0 deficit. Bailey’s ground-rule double scored Christian Koss, and two more runs scored on a bases-loaded walk and a groundout.
Treinen (1-7) took the loss, allowing three runs on three hits and two walks while recording just one out. Spencer Bivens (4-3) earned the win for San Francisco, and Ryan Walker got his 16th save.
The Dodgers scored their lone run in the seventh on an RBI single by Michael Conforto. The defeat leaves the defending World Series champions at 88-68, while the Giants improved to 77-79.
