Seattle Mariners at Houston Astros

HOUSTON (Interstat) — The Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros, tied atop the American League West standings with identical 84-69 records, will continue their pivotal three-game series Saturday night at Daikin Park.

The division rivals opened the series Friday night with a tense pitchers’ duel, a 0-0 affair that was suspended in the 10th inning due to a power failure. That game is scheduled to be completed prior to Saturday’s regularly scheduled contest, adding another layer of drama to the pennant race.

Both teams enter the final stretch of the season playing strong baseball. The Mariners are 8-2 in their last 10 games, having just taken three of four from the Kansas City Royals. Their pitching has been stellar, with Luis Castillo, Andrés Muñoz and Eduard Bazardo combining for a shutout in a 2-0 win on Thursday.

The Astros are 7-3 over their last 10 and are coming off a series win against the Texas Rangers. Cristian Javier delivered a quality start in a 5-2 victory on Wednesday, and shortstop Jeremy Peña provided a key home run.

The season series between the clubs has been tightly contested. Including the suspended game, the Astros hold a slim 6-5 edge in the 11 meetings so far in 2025. The matchups have been characterized by blowouts and close games, with Houston winning 11-3 in July and Seattle claiming a 6-1 victory the day before.

A Interstat game simulator projects a high-scoring affair for Saturday, favoring the Mariners 8-6.

Following this series, both teams have challenging final stretches. The Mariners return home for series against the Colorado Rockies and Los Angeles Dodgers. The Astros, meanwhile, embark on a road trip to face the Athletics and Los Angeles Angels.

First pitch for Saturday’s game is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. CDT.
