Milwaukee Brewers at St. Louis Cardinals
ST. LOUIS (Interstat) — The National League Central champion Milwaukee Brewers, riding high after a series win over the Los Angeles Angels, open a three-game road set against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night at Busch Stadium.
The Brewers (94-59), who have already clinched the division, arrive in St. Louis after taking three of four from the Angels, including a 5-2 victory on Thursday. Quinn Priester struck out 10 over 5 2/3 innings in that win.
Milwaukee has won seven of its last 10 games and holds a commanding 20-game lead over the fourth-place Cardinals (74-79) in the division standings. Despite the gap, the season series has been tightly contested, with the Brewers holding a 6-4 edge. The teams split a three-game series in Milwaukee last weekend, which included a 9-8 Brewers win and a 3-2 Cardinals victory.
The Cardinals are looking to rebound after dropping two of three at home to the Cincinnati Reds, including a 6-2 loss on Wednesday. Alec Burleson provided a bright spot in that game, hitting a solo home run.
Projections favor the Brewers to continue their strong season. Interstat’s game simulator predicts a 5-3 Milwaukee victory, and its ELO system gives the Brewers a 65.2% chance to win. Milwaukee has been installed as a -1.5 run favorite, with an over/under of 7.5 runs.
Following this series, the Brewers continue their road trip with three games in San Diego. The Cardinals will also hit the road after Sunday’s finale, heading to San Francisco for a three-game series before closing the season with three against the Chicago Cubs.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. CDT.
