Atlanta Braves at Detroit Tigers

DETROIT (Interstat) — Bryce Elder pitched seven strong innings and Ronald Acuña Jr. homered as the Atlanta Braves routed the Detroit Tigers 10-1 on Friday night at Comerica Park.

The Braves jumped on Tigers starter Charlie Morton (9-11) early, scoring three runs in each of the first two innings. Acuña’s two-run homer in the second highlighted the offensive outburst. Drake Baldwin added a two-run homer in the ninth, and Ozzie Albies went 3 for 4 with two RBIs.

Elder (8-10) allowed one run on five hits, striking out six without a walk to earn the win. Spencer Torkelson’s solo home run in the fourth was the only damage against him.

The loss was the fourth straight and seventh in eight games for the slumping Tigers (86-70), whose AL Central lead over Cleveland was trimmed to three games. The Braves (72-83) recorded 11 hits in the game, which took 2 hours, 21 minutes and drew 33,554 fans.
