Toronto Blue Jays at Tampa Bay Rays

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (Interstat) — The American League East-leading Toronto Blue Jays will look to continue their late-season surge Tuesday night when they face the Tampa Bay Rays in the second game of a three-game series at George Steinbrenner Field.

The Blue Jays (88-62) took the series opener 2-1 on Monday night behind a strong pitching performance from starter Trey Yesavage and a lockdown bullpen. Toronto has won four straight and 10 of its last 13 games to solidify its playoff positioning.

The Rays (73-77), meanwhile, have lost three of their last four and are playing the role of spoiler in the final weeks of the season. Tampa Bay’s offense was stifled Monday, managing just four hits in the loss.

Toronto’s recent success has been fueled by its pitching staff. In their last four games, Blue Jays pitchers have allowed a total of just five runs. The bullpen, featuring key contributors like Braydon Fisher and Seranthony Domínguez, has been particularly effective.

The Rays will counter with their own solid pitching after Monday’s starter, Joe Boyle, tossed six scoreless innings of three-hit ball. Griffin Jax and Garrett Cleavinger provided perfect relief outings in the narrow defeat.

Despite Tampa Bay holding a 5-3 advantage in the season series, the teams have split their last six meetings, with four of those games decided by two runs or fewer. The most lopsided game was a 13-0 Rays rout on May 25.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Toronto is projected to win 7-3. The system gives the Blue Jays a 54.3% probability of victory. Betting markets have installed Toronto as a -1.5 run favorite with an over/under of 8.5.

Following Tuesday’s contest, the division rivals will conclude their series Wednesday before meeting again for a two-game set in Toronto next weekend to close the regular season. The Blue Jays continue their road trip with a visit to Kansas City, while the Rays will host Boston.
