New York Yankees at Minnesota Twins
MINNEAPOLIS (Interstat) — The New York Yankees, clinging to American League playoff hopes, open a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins on Monday night at Target Field.
The Yankees (83-66) arrive after dropping the finale of their series in Boston, a 6-4 loss to the Red Sox on Sunday. Amed Rosario provided a bright spot in the defeat, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. New York has gone 7-6 over its last 13 games.
Meanwhile, the Twins (65-84) are looking to halt a slide after losing their series to Arizona, including a 6-4 loss on Sunday. Catcher Mickey Gasper homered in the loss, but starter Bailey Ober took the defeat after allowing four earned runs over six innings. Minnesota has lost six of its last eight games.
When these teams met in August in New York, the Yankees took three of four games, outscoring the Twins 17-7 over the first three contests before Minnesota salvaged the finale with a 4-1 victory on Aug. 13.
Statistical models heavily favor the visitors. Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-3 Yankees victory, while its ELO rating system gives New York a 62.1% probability to win. The Yankees are installed as a pregame favorite with a spread of -1.5, and the over/under is set at 8.5 runs.
Following this series, the Yankees continue a critical road trip with four games in Baltimore against the Orioles. The Twins remain at home to host the Cleveland Guardians for a four-game set starting Friday.
