Baltimore Orioles at Chicago White Sox

CHICAGO (Interstat) — The Baltimore Orioles will look to build on a recent series win over the Chicago White Sox as the teams open a three-game set on Monday night at Guaranteed Rate Field.

The Orioles (69-80) took all three games from the White Sox (57-93) in Baltimore from May 30 to June 1, winning by scores of 2-1, 4-2 and 3-2. They will try to replicate that success on the road against an American League Central opponent mired at the bottom of the standings.

Baltimore arrives in Chicago after dropping two of three over the weekend in Toronto, including an 11-2 loss on Sunday. First baseman Coby Mayo provided a bright spot in the defeat, hitting a solo home run. The Orioles had won three straight series prior to the trip north, taking two of three from both Pittsburgh and the Los Angeles Dodgers and sweeping a three-game set in San Diego.

The White Sox also limp into the series after being swept in Cleveland, culminating in a 3-2 loss on Sunday. Starter Yoendrys Gómez turned in a solid effort in the loss, allowing two earned runs over five innings with four strikeouts. Chicago’s offense had shown signs of life earlier in the week, scoring 26 runs in a three-game sweep at Minnesota from Sept. 1-3.

According to Interstat, the Orioles are projected favorites with a 57.1% probability to win. The game simulator predicts a 7-5 Baltimore victory. The Orioles are installed as a -1.5 run favorite on the spread, with an over/under of 8.5 runs.

Following this series, the Orioles return home for a crucial seven-game homestand against the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays. The White Sox will remain at home to host the San Diego Padres for three games over the weekend before embarking on a seven-game road trip to New York and Washington.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m. CDT.
