JOHN’S, Newfoundland and Labrador (Interstat) — Victoriaville defeated Newfoundland 3-2 in a shootout Sunday at Mary Brown’s Centre, improving to 9-5-0 and dropping Newfoundland to 9-6-0 before 5,022. Mathéo Lepage and Zack Miller scored first-period goals for Victoriaville, with Egor Shilov, Alexey Vlasov, Mathieu Perron and Jakob Royer assisting. Dmitry Kubantsev, assisted by Tyson Goguen and Quinn Norman, scored in the second for Newfoundland, and Alexis Michaud tied it in the third off feeds from Louis-François Bélanger and Goguen. Goguen finished with two assists and four shots on goal; Bélanger had one assist and six shots; Shilov one assist and two shots; Michaud one goal and four shots; Miller one goal and two shots; Vlasov one assist, four shots, two penalty minutes and one hit; Kubantsev one goal and three shots; Lepage one goal and four shots.
