Medicine Hat at Wenatchee
WENATCHEE, Wash. (Interstat) — The Medicine Hat Tigers will visit the Wenatchee Wild in minor league hockey action Wednesday at Town Toyota Center.
Medicine Hat enters with a 6-5 record and is coming off a 5-2 home loss to Calgary. Josh Evaschesen scored and put six shots on goal in that game, while Jake Burmis recorded two assists and Yaroslav Bryzgalov added a goal and two shots. Evaschesen has been a consistent offensive threat for the Tigers, collecting two goals and three assists over his recent seven appearances. He has also generated 23 shots on goal across that stretch, giving Medicine Hat a player capable of driving play from the left wing. The Tigers have shown the ability to score in bursts this season, including an 8-1 road win at Brandon and a 5-1 home win over Lethbridge, but they have also been held to one goal in three losses.
Wenatchee is 4-7 and won its most recent game, 5-4 against Kamloops. Parker McMillan produced a goal and an assist with six shots on goal in that victory. Tate Hardacre contributed two assists and two shots, and Ty Coupland scored while recording four shots. McMillan has been active on the right wing, with a goal and two assists across his recent appearances. Wenatchee has had mixed results at home this season, earning a 2-0 win over Penticton and a 5-4 win over Kamloops while also dropping decisions to Tri-City, Lethbridge and Seattle. The Wild will look to carry the momentum from their latest win into a matchup against a Medicine Hat side that has been more productive offensively.
The Tigers’ schedule has included several high-scoring wins and a few difficult losses. Medicine Hat has scored five or more goals in four of its six victories, while its losses have often come when the opponent controls the pace. The Wild have been more closely contested, with several one-goal games and a pair of overtime or shootout results. Wenatchee will need to limit Medicine Hat’s transition chances and keep Evaschesen from getting clean looks from the slot.
Medicine Hat will next face Spokane and Tri-City, while Wenatchee is set to host Prince George and Victoria. Both teams have shown enough offense to make the contest competitive, though Medicine Hat’s edge in record and shot generation could be tested by Wenatchee’s home ice. The game is expected to feature contrasting recent form, with Medicine Hat seeking a stronger defensive effort and Wenatchee trying to sustain its latest offensive output.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a final score of Medicine Hat 3, Wenatchee 2.
