SAN DIEGO (Interstat) — San Diego defeated visiting Colorado 3-2 in a shootout on Sunday at Pechanga Arena San Diego. Tomas Suchanek earned the win with 32 saves on 34 shots and was the game’s top star for the Gulls. The Gulls improved to 5-6, while the Eagles fell to 6-5. Colorado got a goal and an assist from Tristen Nielsen, who had five shots, and a goal and an assist from Jayson Megna on three shots. Matthew Phillips scored and had four shots for San Diego, Lucas Pettersson also scored, and Corey Schueneman, Anton Wahlberg and Nico Myatovic each had an assist. Vinnie Hinostroza had an assist for Colorado, and Wyatt Aamodt recorded five shots. San Diego scored twice in the first period, and Colorado answered with two second-period goals before the shootout. Nathan Gaucher was penalized twice for San Diego. Attendance was 9,123.
