Rochester Red Wings at Memphis Redbirds

MEMPHIS (Interstat) — The Rochester Red Wings and Memphis Redbirds meet Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, at AutoZone Park in Game 2 of their International League (AAA) playoff series. The Red Wings are the visiting team, and the Redbirds are the home team. First pitch is scheduled for a 78-degree evening in Memphis, Tenn. Rochester leads the series 1-0 after a 4-3 win Tuesday.

Rochester, 90-57, will send right-hander Isaac Lyon to the mound. Lyon is 10-5 this season. Memphis, 79-68, will look to even the series at home. The Redbirds dropped Tuesday’s opener despite a strong night from catcher Jimmy Crooks, who went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs.

Rochester’s Joe Glassey has been nearly untouchable out of the bullpen. Over his past six appearances, Glassey has thrown 8 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing three hits with one walk and 11 strikeouts. He worked two hitless innings Tuesday at Memphis, helping preserve the Red Wings’ one-run win. Glassey also struck out three in a scoreless inning Sept. 19 at Buffalo and fanned four in 1 2/3 scoreless innings Sept. 7 against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Crooks has powered Memphis’ offense. Across his last 10 games, he is batting .500 (19-for-38) with two home runs and nine RBIs. He has six multi-hit games in that stretch, including three hits Sept. 17 at Nashville and three hits Sept. 19 at Nashville. Crooks also homered Sept. 8 against Norfolk.

The Red Wings have won seven of their past 10 games. They took two of three from Buffalo before Tuesday’s playoff victory. Rochester’s recent run includes a 15-8 win Sept. 20 at Buffalo and a 12-4 win Sept. 16 at Buffalo. Memphis has won six of its past 10, with a high-scoring series at Nashville that included a 14-1 win Sept. 17 and an 11-1 win Sept. 16. The Redbirds’ offense has been productive during that stretch, scoring at least eight runs in five of those wins.

Rochester shortstop Seaver King also delivered Tuesday, going 3-for-5 with a home run and an RBI. Kyle Nicolas followed Glassey with 1 1/3 innings, allowing one run on two hits with one walk and three strikeouts. Memphis got scoreless relief from Matt Svanson and Sandro Santana. Svanson struck out two in a perfect inning, while Santana struck out three in a scoreless inning with one walk.

The series continues Thursday, Sept. 24, at AutoZone Park. Rochester will try to take a two-game lead, while Memphis will look to split the first two games at home.

Interstat’s game simulator projects Rochester as a 9-8 winner. The ELO system gives the Red Wings a 51.3 percent probability to win.
