HICKORY, N.C. (Interstat) — Nick Montgomery hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning to lift the Augusta Greenjackets to a 3-2 win over the Hickory Crawdads on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026, at L.P. Frans Stadium.

Augusta took a 1-0 lead in the second when Juan Mateo singled home Caden Merritt. Montgomery’s seventh homer scored Parker Brosius and made it 3-0. Hickory answered in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run single by Kolby Branch.

Davis Polo earned the win, improving to 6-5. Daniel Brooks picked up his third save. Evan Siary took the loss, falling to 4-3. Polo and the Augusta bullpen combined to allow five hits and two runs. Hickory’s Kolby Branch went 1 for 4 with two RBIs. Noah Franklin also had a hit for Hickory.

Augusta had six hits, while Hickory had five. Attendance was 1,012. Time of game was 2:19. Augusta pitchers combined for 18 strikes, 40 balls and 18 balls in play. Hickory pitchers combined for 17 strikes, 29 balls and 17 balls in play. Augusta improved to 57-46. Hickory fell to 63-42.
