SUGAR LAND, Texas (Interstat) — The Sugar Land Space Cowboys host the Round Rock Express on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader at Constellation Field, with first pitch scheduled for a rainy 83-degree evening.

Sugar Land (14-9) leads the season series 4-1 after a 5-2 victory Friday. The Space Cowboys have won three of the last four meetings overall. Round Rock (9-14) has dropped four consecutive games.

Right-hander Austin Gomber is scheduled to start for the Express. Gomber allowed three earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts over five innings in a loss to the Space Cowboys on Friday. His previous two outings were shortened: two innings on April 18 vs. El Paso and just 1⅓ innings on April 12 at Oklahoma City, where he surrendered eight earned runs.

Right-hander Ethan Pecko is listed for Sugar Land. Pecko threw three scoreless innings with six strikeouts in a relief appearance against the Express on Friday. He has not allowed an earned run in his past three outings.

The Space Cowboys’ offense has been productive in the series. Round Rock’s Jonah Bride homered in Friday’s loss, going 1-for-3 with one RBI. Aidan Anderson tossed two scoreless innings of relief for the Express.

Sugar Land’s bullpen has been sharp. Roddery Muñoz allowed one earned run over three innings with four strikeouts on Friday, and Tom Cosgrove worked two perfect innings with three strikeouts.

The doubleheader is part of a six-game series between the Pacific Coast League rivals. The teams play again Sunday before Sugar Land travels to Reno and Round Rock returns home to face Oklahoma City.

Interstat’s game simulator projects a 6-5 Sugar Land victory, and its ELO system gives the Space Cowboys a 55.4 percent win probability.

Rain in the forecast could affect playing conditions. The teams played two seven-inning games Thursday, splitting the pair with Round Rock winning the first 5-3 in eight innings and Sugar Land taking the second 12-5 in seven.
