Buffalo Bisons at Omaha Storm Chasers
OMAHA, Neb. (Interstat) — The Buffalo Bisons and Omaha Storm Chasers will open a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Werner Park, continuing a tightly contested early-season series between the International League foes.
The first game of the twin bill, set for a 1:05 p.m. CDT start in Papillion, features two teams looking to gain an edge in the standings. Buffalo (3-3) arrives after a back-and-forth series, while Omaha (2-3) aims to build on a narrow victory Thursday.
The Bisons dropped a 9-7 decision in the most recent meeting on April 2, despite a strong performance from designated hitter Eloy Jiménez. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs in that contest, highlighting his potential impact. Over his last three games, Jiménez is 4 for 11 (.364) with that homer.
Omaha’s win was sparked by right fielder Drew Waters, who delivered a three-run homer in the Thursday matchup. Second baseman Josh Rojas added two hits and three RBIs, and reliever Andrew Pérez provided two scoreless innings.
The series has been characterized by close contests. Following Buffalo’s 6-4 win on March 31, Omaha pitching shut out the Bisons 3-0 on April 1 before the teams combined for 16 runs on April 2.
On the mound, Buffalo’s Adam Macko and Joe Mantiply provided solid relief in the loss, combining for three innings while allowing just one run. Omaha will look for similar stability from its bullpen in the doubleheader format.
Following Saturday’s games, the series concludes Sunday before both clubs depart for new opponents. Buffalo returns home to host the Syracuse Mets for a six-game set starting Tuesday, while Omaha hits the road for a six-game series against the Iowa Cubs beginning the same day.
