Hickory Crawdads at Charleston RiverDogs
CHARLESTON, S.C. (Interstat) — The Hickory Crawdads will try to snap a four-game losing streak when they visit the Charleston RiverDogs on Friday night at Joseph Riley Ballpark.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The forecast calls for 81-degree temperatures and cloudy skies.
Hickory (31-26) will start right-hander Aidan Deakins, who is 5-0 with a 1.98 ERA this season. Deakins has been one of the league’s most consistent pitchers, though he has not faced Charleston in 2026.
The RiverDogs (34-25) have not announced a starter, but right-hander Aidan Haugh has been the team’s most dominant pitcher of late. Haugh has won four consecutive decisions, including a five-inning, one-run performance against Hickory on June 10. In that start, he allowed six hits and struck out five.
Charleston has won the first three games of this six-game series by scores of 5-4 on Tuesday, 3-2 on Wednesday and 5-2 on Thursday. The RiverDogs have won five of six meetings between the teams this season.
Player to watch for Hickory is right-hander Moises Morales, who has been inconsistent but effective in recent outings. On June 10 at Charleston, Morales threw five innings, allowing four hits and one earned run with four strikeouts in a no-decision. Over his past four starts, he has a 4.44 ERA and has thrown at least four innings each time.
For Charleston, Haugh has been the staff ace. In his last four starts, all wins, he has allowed one earned run total and struck out 23 batters in 23.1 innings. He threw seven shutout innings at Columbia on May 28.
The Crawdads have lost four straight overall and six of their last eight. Their last win came June 6 against Kannapolis.
The RiverDogs have won four straight and eight of their last 10.
Charleston ranks near the top of the league in runs scored, while Hickory’s pitching staff has been solid but has struggled in the late innings during this series.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-2 Charleston victory.
The teams will continue the series Saturday and Sunday before Hickory returns home for a six-game homestand against Columbia beginning Tuesday.
