SALT LAKE (9-12) AT LAS VEGAS (10-9)

Preview

LAS VEGAS (Interstat) — The Salt Lake Bees and Las Vegas Aviators continue their series at Cashman Field on Thursday, with both teams looking to gain an edge in the early Pacific Coast League standings.

The Bees evened the current set with an 8-5 victory on Tuesday, snapping a brief skid and improving to 9-12 overall. The Aviators (10-9) saw a three-game win streak end with that loss.

A key player to watch for Salt Lake is infielder Christian Moore. He powered Tuesday’s win, going 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs. His performance has been streaky, however, as he was hitless in the three games prior. For the series, Moore is 2 for 3 with the homer and two RBies.

Las Vegas will counter with outfielder Cade Marlowe, who has been a consistent offensive threat. He collected three hits and drove in two runs in Tuesday’s defeat. Over his last 10 games, Marlowe is batting .350 (14 for 40) with a home run and nine RBIs.

On the mound, both teams will look for more stability. In Tuesday’s win, Salt Lake’s Brett Kerry allowed three earned runs over five innings. Las Vegas reliever Michael Kelly provided two scoreless frames in the loss.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Thursday’s contest projects to be a tight one, with a predicted final score of Salt Lake 5, Las Vegas 4.

The series concludes with games Friday through Sunday before both clubs embark on new series next week. Salt Lake will host Sacramento, while Las Vegas hits the road to face Tacoma.
