Bradenton Marauders at Tampa Tarpons

BRADENTON, Fla. (Interstat) — The Bradenton Marauders and Tampa Tarpons will meet for the fifth consecutive day Saturday afternoon at George M. Steinbrenner Field, with the visiting Marauders looking to build on their recent momentum in the Florida State League series.

Bradenton (5-8) has won three of the first four games this week, including a 7-0 shutout victory Friday afternoon behind a dominant start from top prospect Seth Hernandez. The right-hander is a key player to watch, having thrown nine consecutive hitless innings with 15 strikeouts over his last two appearances, dating to April 10.

Tampa (4-9) will aim to halt a three-game skid and even the series. Reliever Jordarlin Mendoza is a player to watch for the Tarpons. Despite recent team struggles, he has been effective in short stints against Bradenton this week, pitching 3 1/3 scoreless innings with eight strikeouts across two appearances. However, his season has been inconsistent, including a rough outing April 5 where he allowed seven runs.

The Marauders’ pitching has stifled Tampa recently, holding the Tarpons to four total runs over the last two games. Tampa’s offense broke out for 12 runs in a win Wednesday but has been otherwise held in check during the series.

According to Interstat, the Tarpons are projected slight favorites with a 55% probability to win. The game simulator predicts a 3-2 victory for Tampa.

First pitch is scheduled for Saturday afternoon. The series concludes Sunday before both teams embark on new road series Tuesday.
