Worcester Red Sox at Nashville Sounds

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Interstat) — The Worcester Red Sox and Nashville Sounds continue their series at First Horizon Park on Friday, with weather potentially playing a role in the contest. The forecast calls for rain and a temperature of 74 degrees at first pitch.

Worcester (10-5) will send left-hander Robert Gasser (0-0) to the mound looking to snap a two-game skid against the Sounds. Nashville (8-7) has taken the first two games of the series, including a 5-3 victory on Wednesday.

A player to watch for the Red Sox is reliever Kyle Keller, who has been effective lately despite the team’s results. In Wednesday’s loss, Keller fired 1 2/3 perfect innings with three strikeouts. Over his last three appearances, he has allowed just one hit and no earned runs over 5 2/3 innings.

The Sounds counter with a hot hitter in center fielder Luis Lara. He is 6 for 9 with two RBIs in the first two games of this series. Over his last 10 games, Lara is batting .390 (16 for 41) to lead the Nashville offense.

Despite Nashville’s recent head-to-head success and a 58% win probability according to Interstat’s ELO rating, the same service’s game simulator projects a high-scoring affair with Worcester coming out on top, 7-6.

Following Friday’s game, the series continues through Sunday before both teams embark on new series next week. Worcester returns home to face Syracuse, while Nashville hits the road to take on Charlotte.
