Columbia Fireflies at Charleston RiverDogs

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Interstat) — The Columbia Fireflies and Charleston RiverDogs will meet for the third time in as many days Thursday at Joseph Riley Ballpark, with the visiting Fireflies looking to extend a narrow edge in the early-season series.

First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. under clear skies with temperatures near 70 degrees.

Columbia (6-4) has taken the first two games of the six-game set by a single run each night, including a 6-5, 10-inning victory Tuesday and a 3-2 win Wednesday. The Fireflies have won four of their last five.

The RiverDogs (5-5), after a strong road series in Fayetteville, have dropped three straight, all by one run.

Columbia will hand the ball to right-hander Blake Wolters (0-0), who makes his first start of the 2026 campaign. Charleston’s probable pitcher was not announced.

A player to watch for the Fireflies is reliever Henson Leal. The right-hander has been dominant lately, tossing 3.0 perfect innings with a strikeout in Tuesday’s extra-inning win. Over his last three appearances, spanning 6.2 innings, he has allowed just one hit and no earned runs while striking out six.

For Charleston, right-hander Aidan Cremarosa is a key figure. He started Tuesday’s series opener, striking out nine over 5.0 innings but taking the loss after allowing three earned runs. In his previous start April 7 at Fayetteville, he fanned 12 over 5.0 frames.

Offensive standouts from Tuesday’s marathon include Columbia’s Daniel Lopez, who went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Roni Cabrera, who drove in three runs. Charleston’s Cooper Flemming was 3-for-4 with two RBIs in the loss.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Thursday’s contest projects to be another tight one, with a predicted final score of Columbia 6, Charleston 5.

The series continues through Sunday before both teams embark on new series next Tuesday.
