Worcester Red Sox at Nashville Sounds

WORCESTER, Mass. (Interstat) — The hottest team in minor league baseball looks to bounce back from a rare loss when the Worcester Red Sox visit the Nashville Sounds on Wednesday at First Horizon Park.

The Red Sox (10-3), who own the best record in the International League, saw a five-game win streak snapped with a 6-1 loss in Nashville on Tuesday. They’ll turn to right-hander Coleman Crow (2-0) to steady the ship in the second game of the six-game series. Crow has been a pillar of Worcester’s early success.

Nashville (6-7) will counter with right-hander Carlos Rodriguez, who is seeking his first win of the season. Rodriguez has struggled in his three starts, posting an 11.12 ERA over 10.1 innings pitched.

A key player to watch for Worcester is outfielder Allan Castro. He is coming off a monstrous performance Sunday, going 2 for 4 with two home runs and six RBIs in an 8-2 win over Columbus. That breakout followed a brief slump for the 22-year-old prospect.

Weather should not be a factor, with game-time temperatures forecast near 77 degrees under cloudy skies.

The Sounds’ bullpen was stellar in Tuesday’s series opener, but the club has lost four of its last five games overall. Worcester, despite Tuesday’s result, has won eight of its last ten and leads the league in several offensive categories.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the Red Sox are projected to win 8-3 on Wednesday.

Following this series, Worcester returns home to face Syracuse for six games starting April 21, while Nashville hits the road for a series at Charlotte beginning the same day.
