Dayton Dragons at Great Lakes Loons
MIDLAND, Mich. (Interstat) — The Great Lakes Loons will look to extend their early-season dominance and continue their mastery of the Dayton Dragons when the Midwest League clubs meet again Wednesday at Dow Diamond.
First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. under cloudy skies with a game-time temperature near 75 degrees.
The Loons (7-3) have won seven of their last eight and opened this six-game series with a 2-0 victory Tuesday night. Great Lakes’ pitching has been stifling, holding opponents to three or fewer runs in six of its seven wins.
Aidan Foeller, a player to watch for the Loons, is coming off a brilliant outing against these same Dragons on April 14, tossing six shutout innings with eight strikeouts. In his last two starts, he has allowed just one earned run over 10 2/3 innings while striking out 16.
Dayton (4-5), meanwhile, has dropped two straight and was shut out in the series opener. The Dragons will turn to right-hander JeanPierre Ortiz (0-0), who makes his first start of the season. He will be opposed by Great Lakes right-hander Jakob Wright (0-0), who is also making his season debut.
The Dragons will hope for a spark from Reynardo Cruz, who delivered five scoreless innings of relief in Tuesday’s loss. Over his last two appearances, Cruz has struck out 11 in nine innings while allowing three earned runs.
Interstat’s game simulator projects a 7-5 victory for the Loons.
Following Wednesday’s contest, the series continues through Sunday in Midland.
