Buffalo Bisons at Rochester Red Wings
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Interstat) — The Buffalo Bisons and Rochester Red Wings will continue their International League series Wednesday at Frontier Field, with first pitch scheduled for the afternoon.
The Bisons (8-7) took the series opener Tuesday afternoon, 5-3, behind a strong relief outing from Austin Voth and a two-RBI game from center fielder RJ Schreck. Buffalo will look to carry that momentum into Wednesday’s game and secure a series win.
A player to watch for Buffalo is Voth, who earned the win Tuesday with four innings of one-run relief, striking out three. In his previous appearance on March 29, he also picked up a win against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre with three innings of work.
Rochester (7-8) aims to even the series and get back to .500. The Red Wings will look for a better start from left-hander Andrew Alvarez, a key player to watch. Alvarez took the loss Tuesday despite striking out nine batters over 5 1/3 innings. He has shown dominant stuff this season, including a 10-strikeout, one-hit outing over five scoreless innings on April 2.
The teams have split their recent form. Buffalo has won four of its last six games, while Rochester had won four straight before Tuesday’s loss.
Wednesday’s forecast calls for cloudy skies and a game-time temperature of 74 degrees.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projected final score is Buffalo 5, Rochester 4.
The series continues through Sunday at Frontier Field before both teams embark on new series next week.
