Midland RockHounds at Frisco RoughRiders
FRISCO, Texas (Interstat) — The top two teams in the Texas League’s South Division renew their early-season rivalry Saturday when the Frisco RoughRiders host the Midland RockHounds at Riders Field.
Midland (5-1) brings the league’s best record into the contest, having taken two of the first three games in this six-game series, including a 7-6 victory on Thursday. Frisco (4-2) salvaged the Friday night matchup with a 2-1 win, setting the stage for a pivotal weekend clash.
The pitching matchup features right-hander Kenya Huggins (0-1) for Midland against Frisco left-hander Dylan MacLean (1-0). Huggins will look for his first win, while MacLean aims to build on a strong start to his season.
A player to watch for the RockHounds is reliever Stevie Emanuels, who has been dominant in his last three outings. Emanuels tossed two scoreless innings with three strikeouts in Thursday’s win over Frisco. For the RoughRiders, outfielder Dylan Dreiling has been a key bat, going 5 for 12 with a home run and three RBIs in the first three games of this series.
The head-to-head series has been tightly contested. After Frisco’s 9-1 rout on Tuesday, Midland responded with one-run victories on Wednesday and Thursday before Frisco’s narrow win Friday.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, the offensive trend is projected to continue with a high-scoring affair, predicting an 8-5 victory for the visiting RockHounds.
Following Saturday’s game, the series concludes Sunday before both teams embark on new series next Tuesday. Midland will host the San Antonio Missions, while Frisco hits the road to face the Amarillo Sod Poodles.
