Dunedin Blue Jays at St. Lucie Mets

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (Interstat) — The Dunedin Blue Jays and St. Lucie Mets will look to break through offensively when they continue their series Thursday at Clover Park, a day after a pitchers’ duel resulted in a scoreless tie.

The game was suspended due to weather in the seventh inning Wednesday with no score and will be completed at a later date. The forecast for Thursday’s scheduled contest calls for rain and a temperature of 71 degrees.

Both teams will send promising right-handers to the mound in a matchup of early-season standouts.

Dunedin (1-2) will start Karson Ligon, who was dominant in a no-decision against Bradenton on Saturday. He struck out eight over four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit. Despite his effort, the Blue Jays fell 4-2.

St. Lucie (2-1) will counter with Cam Tilly, who was even more impressive in his last outing. On Saturday at Palm Beach, Tilly fired five perfect innings, striking out six, to earn the win in a 1-0 victory.

The Mets’ pitching has been a strength, allowing just four total runs in their two wins. Closer José Marte secured the save in Saturday’s shutout.

Dunedin’s offense seeks consistency after scoring two runs or fewer in two of its three games. The Blue Jays’ lone win was a 5-1 victory over Bradenton last Saturday.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the projection favors the home team, predicting a 4-3 victory for the Mets.

Following Thursday’s game, the Florida State League foes will meet again Friday and Saturday to conclude the series.
